Site Info

Context & History: Serial Consign is an online writing project dedicated to cataloguing provocative examples of information design. My interest in information visualization and graphical representation is not limited to aesthetics as I hope to document how organizational strategies affect the way we think, communicate and experience space. Some topics that are frequently examined on this blog include: digital art, networked urbanism, architecture, imaging technology, idiosyncratic interfaces, space in gaming & film and identity and the social web.

This site was launched in 2004 and rebuilt as a blog in the fall of 2006. I get a moderate amount of email regarding Serial Consign so I've set up a FAQ to address some of the more common questions that I receive. If you have a more specific enquiry, please drop me a line.

Design: This site is built in Drupal, an open source content management system. The design is based on the A3 Atlantis theme by Blamcast and makes use of numerous modules for a wide range of semantic tagging, SEO and interface customization. The link block labeled "Drupal Modules" (the sidebar to the right of the main content area) contains links to several key modules that have been used to organize content on this site - many thanks to their respective developers.

If you like the design of this site please note Mission Specialist, my web and graphic design studio.

Distribution: RSS syndication is piped through Feedburner and republished on Design Corner and DesignFeeds. All blog posts emanating from this site are distributed under an Attribution Noncommercial Share Alike Creative Commons License.

Salutations: My girlfriend Jordan Hale keeps the copy on this blog sharp and she also served as my primary foil in redesigning this site. Crispin Bailey at Substance Communications has been an ongoing positive influence regarding usability, accessibility and mobile viewing. A tip of the cap to Michael Surtees and Ceci Moss who have each been particularly supportive of this blog.
