Projects / Summer 2010

It has been a while since I've posted any kind of update as to what I'm working on. I've mainly been focused on freelance work over the last three months and we've finally launched a new site for our studio Mission Specialist. In addition to that big news, there are a number of other recent developments worth passing along that include:

  • This week the first edition of my new monthly column "Some Assembly Required" appeared in Current Intelligence, an online and print publication "broadly preoccupied with culture, politics and current affairs; narrowly with conflict." My role will be to act as a media and technology beat reporter and while that isn't exactly unusual turf for me to be covering, what is new and exciting is that I'm planning on focusing more on prototypes than art objects.
  • We launched Vague Terrain 17: Collaborative Spaces about two weeks ago. The issue was curated by Neil Wiernik and Corina MacDonald and features a range of multimedia projects by talented folks like Herman Kolgen & Kenneth Kirschner, Morgan Packard & Josh Ott and Toronto's I/O Media collective.
  • I've spent most of my weekend wrestling with the latest update of the Drupal OpenLayers module that drives Toronto Sound Ecology. Max Ritts and I are in the midst of relaunching and expanding that project – hopefully we'll be presenting it at a few events this fall.
  • This summer I'm teaching a course on blog culture at OCAD and that will undoubtedly inspire some writing on the web here on Serial Consign.
