I'd Like to Thank the Academy...

[Citizen Journalism Diagram - detail]

I've definitely dropped the ball on Serial Consign postings for the last few weeks as I've been completely immersed in my thesis work. I'm very happy to report that after an almost sleepless three weeks I presented my research project Movable Parts: The Retooling of the Los Angeles Times to a very receptive jury yesterday. After several years of hard work and loads of back and forth between Los Angeles and Toronto I will be graduating with my MA in architecture next month.

My friends and peers came out of the woodwork over the last few weeks to help me finish up my project and I have to give credit where it is due. First and foremost I owe many thanks to my advisor Tom Bessai and secondary advisors Michael Speaks, Mason White and Adrian Blackwell. I also owe gratitude to journalists Emily Mathieu, Kate Milberry, and David Cohn at NewAssignment.Net. My project would not have been possible without the layout expertise and emotional support of Jordan Hale and Evan Saskin was there to help me through the final crunch. I also owe a huge debt of gratitude to Cyrus Irani, Svebor Sarich, Luke Stern, Robin Armstrong, Jegan Vincent De Paul, and Gavin McMurray. I'd also like to thank John Shnier, Pina Petricone, and Mark Wasiuta for their feedback on my design proposal and Nancy Wilson, Andrea Macecek and Karen Louise Smith in helping me iron out my initial research proposition.

This is starting to sound a bit like an Oscar acceptance speech, so I think I should cut it short before they start playing the music and usher me off stage. Between my completion of school and recent policy shifts at Rhizome, I will be significantly increasing my attention to this site effective immediately. Stay tuned for lots of content this summer as well as a relaunch of my web-portfolio.
